The King's Cliff in Ooty
Once an imposing ancestral mansion, King's Cliff is a charming mansion stay that reminds you of civilization at its polished best, offering a panoramic view of the hills around the town while remaining withdrawn from the hustle and bustle of life down below. It's where time stands still, where tradition meets luxury, where one can take an early morning trek across undiscovered Ooty, or emerge from the calm void of sleep to a breakfast in bed, served with white gloves and the aroma of the faraway isles . Where yesterday lives on, and tempts you to live on forever.
And when you wake up in the morning and look out of the window, all you see are clouds and hills. And all you hear is the chirping of birds . . .

Apart from the dining, hall, lounge and refectory rooms, there are nine rooms at King's Cliff, all with a fireplace and meant for 2. Although with the modern amenities of satellite television and telephone, each room has a unique charm of its own and each is named after a Shakespearean character. 
Cosy, Prospero and Verona are equipped with two single cots each, while Othello, Macbeth, Hamlet and Iago have cozy double beds. Both feature luxurious baths.
Windsor, Midsummer and Tempest are provided with a classic double bed and the overwhelming luxury of a fine bathtub. Whenever required, some of these can come together to form suites.

Kings Cliff is a superb example of the houses of the British Raj that dot the hill stations of South India, and the façade as well as the interiors reflect the tastes of the original late 19th century British owners. Elaborate fireplaces, polished original wooden floorboards in all the bedrooms and living spaces, exquisite mint-condition antique furniture, and plenty of natural light in the nine bedrooms showcases both the inner beauty of the house as well as the scenic panorama of the mountains and the valley below

Evenings can be spent enjoying a nice cognac in the Cigar Room to the crackle of a roaring fire. Even better, you can bring your own with no corkage charged. And with a staff of 26 to a maximum of 18 guests, you can get quite used to the pampering.

A new experience everyday. For the young at heart, or to get the blood going, there’s plenty to do. Such as an open jeep jungle ride or fishing, a journey of discovery to a tea estate or horse-riding. It’s seldom the same, so do check with us to see what’s on offer at the time.
