Village Resort - Niligiris
This dreamland is situated adjacent to the ghat road between Ooty
and Mettuppalayam at the area known as Upper Burliar. The resort
could be reached also by one of the most romantic of vehicles: The
Nilgiri Mountain Train except that you reach Coonoor and travel by
road for 12 kms.The vegetation of the valleys is typically a dense
and rather low (i.e. 50 - 60ft.) forest with much undergrowth and
many epiphytes, mosses and ferns. Both tropical and temperate flora
occur, including magnolia, rhododendrons and laurel.
In keeping with the life style of the ancient Kurumba folk, the
cottages are airy and exotic with their Kurumba - tribal - styled
roofed cottages, which are, pyramid shaped and bright interiors with
pristine color and tiled work roofs. Every room has its exclusive
balcony with ornamental railings made of areca-nut wood. There are
king size beds surrounded by intriguing Kurumba artifacts and
painting, on the arches and walls.
The suites are two storeyed with the bedroom upstairs and the
dressing room downstairs. The bedrooms are with king size beds and
windows large enough to meet the floor and the ceiling; the view
through the French window is simply fantastic. The dressing room has
a sofa-cum-bed.
Lemon yellow and mild brown of the earth are our predominant colors.
The wide and yet delicate French windows would allow perennially
splendid views even as you are relaxing and lying on your beds. All
the bathrooms are built in such a way that you would have a
spectacular view through the bay window of the hilly horizon while
your own privacy will be affirmed. The area of comfort and
convenience in each room is comparable to the best.
Time stands still
at Kurumba - and for those who want to while away there are variety
of Indoor as well as Outdoor activities (Treks and Nature walks)
